"Infinite Possibilities, Part 2: Icarus Abides"

Begin log file, Officer Aeryn Sun recording.

Everything we could do has been done. The Scarran dreadnought is entering the system, and John has just taken off in Furlow's replica of his Farscape Module to engage the weapon that will give us one shot — and only one — at destroying the dreadnought. Time has been our enemy ever since we arrived on Dam-Ba-Da, but now that events here have concluded, I feel it is my duty to make a record of what transpired:

When the Scorpius Neural Clone took over John's body and attacked me, Jack stopped me from shooting him — just in time. The clone was actually dying. It had tried to trick me into killing it — and John — as a final revenge. It expired quickly and John emerged.

With the Scorpius clone dead, Jack unlocked the wormhole knowledge in John's brain and they prepared to construct the device — a "Displacement Engine" — that could destroy the approaching Scarran dreadnought.

I should report concurrent events on Talyn. A Scarran advance scout had infiltrated the temporarily blinded young Leviathan. The Scarran began extracting information from the also still-blind Crais, but Stark diverted the Scarran from the interrogation by informing him of Talyn's neural link technology. The Scarran demanded that a neural transponder be made for him, so he could take command of the Leviathan. Crais made good use of the time Stark bought him by having not one but two transponders made, with a plan to use one of the transponders against the Scarran.

Back down on the planet, Jack and John proceeded with the construction of the weapon. John expected to understand wormhole technology immediately, but Jack informed him the process was a gradual one. I left the two at work and checked on Rygel, who was manning the gun turret. He was injured, but reported that he could continue his defense of the compound if I brought him food. I complied.

Back in the compound, John was beginning to tap into the released wormhole knowledge given to him by the Ancients. We were still on the lookout for Charrids, so while Jack installed the dangerous radioactive partanium into the Displacement Engine, John and I inspected the integrity of the hangar door area.

We returned from our inspection and found Furlow with two dead Charrids near the Displacement Engine. Jack was lying prone nearby, dying. Furlow stated the Charrids had shot Jack.

John resumed work on the engine, but he was unsure if his knowlege alone was enough to complete the weapon. I decided to swing by the gun turret again to check on Rygel, and to see why the Charrids seemed to be holding back on a full assault.

Back aboard Talyn, the Scarran had acquired its neural transponder, and seemed prepared to take over the ship. But Crais used his transponder to render the Scarran immobile so that Talyn could attack. Together, they neutralized the invader.

While I was occupied with reconaissance at the turret, Furlow urged John to sell the technology that was now unlocked within him. He refused, so Furlow stole the Displacement Engine. When John tried to stop her, she admitted she had killed Jack and that she was also working for the Scarrans, who were coming to buy her wormhole technology. Now she could sell them Jack's weapon instead.

Furlow escaped under cover of a solar flare. The Charrids stopped firing grenades at us just as I saw Furlow race past in a sand-terrain vehicle. John drove up a moment later. I jumped onboard and we pursued the deceptive mechanic.

A Charrid caught up to us. One of us had to stop him. Without giving John a choice, I jumped off the vehicle and dealt with the threat quickly. I sprinted ahead to catch up to John, who informed me that Furlow had fled and he had retrieved the Displacement Engine. He didn't tell me that he'd also been hit by an enormous blast of radiation from the device.

In the pursuit, the Displacement Engine had been activated, and it would melt down uselessly unless we deployed its power soon — if it worked at all, which Crichton couldn't guarantee.

But we had no time left to consider other options. The Scarran dreadnought had arrived....
