PIVOTAL EPISODES: PRODUCERS' COMMENTARIES

Nerve

· Keep In Mind ... from Rockne S. O'Bannon, series creator

"Nerve" was really our first, serious foray into the Peacekeeper world. We went down to Scorpius' Gammak Base, and it was our first opportunity to portray a Peacekeeper environment, other than Crais' ship, which had been used in a limited fashion up until that point.

So one of the things that we want to do in seasons three and four is really examine the Peacekeeper world, its political scene and the ramifications of that corner of the universe.

When the series first began, Aeryn and Crais, by design, were two straightforward, military types, but it was always our intention to twist them into people who don't have that viewpoint and hierarchy to fall back on, so they'd really have to become individuals with an ability to see other peoples' points of view — the greys of a situation, not just the blacks and the whites.

In these two eposides, Aeryn and Crais turn the first corner — the first serious corner — in their characters' development, something that we follow through on during season two. Season three is going to take another, very big turn for them both, in particular for Crais. He will surprise us more than he has in the past.
