An alien by the name of Tallip had possessed Pilot and taken control of him. This Tallip creature was looking for another of his species (who had possessed a member of the crew). Not knowing which of the crew where possessed, Crichton and Chiana then stumbled across one of Moya's DRDs. The DRDs mission was to show Crichton who of the crew where possessed by use of the starburst chamber in Moya and to help him in any way possible if needed. Crichton finding it hard to understand the little DRD, thought of a way to relay messages. With the StarTrek system in mind, Crichton told the DRD "Alright, we don't understand the R2D2 crap. We're going to use the StarTrek system, 1 blink for yes, 2 blinks for no. You understand?" The DRD then confirmed by blinking it's lights 1 time. After that Crichton started to call the little DRD, 'DRD Pike'. (For those of you don't recall the StarTrek blinking system try to remember the Star Trek episodes of Christopher Pike in his hover chair that had the little light that would blink, hense the nickname DRD Pike.)

Through out DRD Pike's mission, it was helping Crichton left & right until the end where it bit the big one. DRD Pike accidently got traped in the starburst chamber during the blast to save Pilot and was never seen or heard from again.
