Chorn.com Server and Farscape Website will be down around march!
Starting around the time of March the Farscape Website will be down for a while. I dunno how long this will be. This is because of chorn's server moving, chorn is the owner of the server and co-owner of the farscape.chorn.com website. This will of course upset/dissapoint a lot of you who come to our website to download video clips from episodes. Especially those who do not get a chance to see the show and your only way of seeing any of a new episode of Farscape is by viewing our small video clips. But sometimes ya have to do what's necessary to keep a dream alive.
During this time out period, I (Scorpwanna) will continue to create the video clips as each episode airs that passes through the "time out period" and store them on my computer from where I upload them to chorn.com. As soon as chorn gives me the "go ahead" that his server is fully moved. I will then a.s.a.p. upload each clip that I create. Course many of you would of gone to other sources for your Farscape. But, I'll continue to provide cuz there's always someone out there who needs!
Mean while, during this time if you want the video clips that I will have created email me at scorpwanna@hotmail.com and I will see what I can do.
Something you need to defiantly read!
Here's a brief over view of the situation coming and some history of our websites beginning.
I've just been informed by chorn that the entire site may have to go due to the moving. It's not necessarily the moving but his server and a situation that has occurred. He may not have a server after this takes place. Way back when I alone owned this Farscape website on fortunecity.com, I was running low on web space on the internet (uploading clips to small storage areas over time can cause this to happen). Chorn had offered me a merger (a place to store the website) around the time that I met him in the chat room but I refused because I didn't really know what his motives where. But as time went on and I was desperate and very much in need of web space, I agreed to merge the tiny website I had created added to his monster server and make the website bigger and better! Besides he liked what I had created and had ideas which I didn't have for it.
There were of course slight changes he said that needed to be made with the site once it was officially on his server and he had a few terms and conditions. Which I gladly agreed too because I felt as if this needed to happen so that the site could be able to grow for the fans. He did tell me one thing that I thought never would happen. He said that someday in the "very possible" future he may not be able to keep his farscape.chorn.com service running on the internet forever. (I won't say what his reasons were or why this could possibly happen, it's mostly an ISP conflict, you understand.) Before we knew it, a new website was born on his server "Chorn & Scorpwanna's FarScape Website". It was updated, stable and always available for viewing and downloading stuff from 24/7 and it had it's own chat server :).
As time went by, and I began to upload more and more and more video clips to our website. (Which if you didn't know already that's mostly what our website has on it anyway.) Chorn and I never thought that one day during Farscape that the website would ever end. We did however talk about the what if's a lot. We had figured that the only way that the website would ever actually be no more would be due to a Henson request. After these 4 years, it's still been around and we to this day are still shocked that it continues to live. However, nothing last forever and all good things must come to an end!
Upon the time of his having to move his server, or more or less terminate it. We regret to inform all of the Fans who visit our site, that it will not be available during March or possibly ever again. It's been great serving you all, and I thank you for enjoying what we have provided for you. Take care and Scape ON!

P.S. If anything changes before this takes place, I will post it on this page!
I'm a moron!
* Scorpwanna looks for a mirror to find a moron looking back. Ok, totally ignore some of what I said above. Apparently I over reacted to the situation and miss read some of what chorn was telling me. The site may not actually completely die off for good. There will be major changes, I however do not know what they are yet. And there will be down time! Actually to tell you the truth, I dunno what the heck is going on. Possibly moving sections of the site elsewhere or something.
This is a major change!
Chorn has found out that people have been directly linking to the clips instead of their respectfull pages to view them from. We think that they are either directly linking through messageboards or webpages on other websites. I have in the past got requests from people who would want to do this, but have refused each one. So he has now changed his server up so the only way to view a clip or any non html page is from the page where you access it from. And if that wasn't bad enough, you have to start from the begining of the whole site and use the links on pages to get around rather than go to a html page. If not you will recieve a 403 Forbidden error message. That's right, you have to start at http://farscape.chorn.com then click Multimedia, then vid clips, then from there you start your browsing.
Hey you can't blaim him for doing this, blaim those who made him have to do this!
However, I have taken it upon myself to use direct links to the video clips individually on each characters clip page. (So that you can still access the clip via a direct link from the access page rather than a popup window link that only opens the clip in another window.) This is a major change but what can I say, at least its still on the internet!
Ok the pooch is screwed!
Many fans have emailed me that they are now having trouble downloading or viewing any of the .mov clips on our site. This is due to chorn "once again" changing the file permissions on the website. He changed them back to a state of normalness (still with access strictly from insite urls) but it seems that doing so has locked out the clips temporarily until he can be contacted (which I've tried but can't get in touch with him). I have forwarded emails that i've gotten about this situation and emailed him myself. Hopefully it will be resolved before we loose fans because of this crap.
Oh yeah I also tested this in my IE and I get forbidden too when downloading clips or trying to view them and get a plugin error. But when I use my Opera webbrowser, everything works properly. Computers make me want to vomit! I hate that chorn has had to do this (it will take time to sort out the problem) Just keep blaming those who made him have to do this!

Official Date of Move
Chorn has informed me that March, 29 2003 will be the official starting day of the move. Which means fans of the site have just enough time to view or download new clips after Farscape's last episode. I have no idea how long the move will take at this time. I should tell you all this, if you don't see our site back on the net within 2 weeks after the move. I'm guessing, you won't see us again :(.
