The FS01HCD001-4 MOV's are captures converted from the original MPG files from the FarScape Promotional CD that was released with the Scifi magazine around the time of the final 4 for season 1.

History of the MPG files FS01HCD001, (no 2) FS01HCD003 and FS01HCD004:

At the time of the release of the FarScape Promotional CD, the official FarScape website (http://www.farscape.com) had web pages (for each clip) that required a special username and password to access them and allow these clips to be viewed. Owners of the CD needed to watch the first episode that Sci-Fi would air of Season 2 (Mind The Baby) during the commercial breaks to obtain the usernames and passwords. Having the Promotional CD in the CD-ROM drive of the computer, once the user had the username and password for one of the clips they would then enter them and be taken to the page where the clip was to be viewed.

Steps used to view the clips from the CD on the Farscape Website:

1. Either access the clips links from the menu of the Farscape Promotional CD or go to http://www.farscape.com and click on the link's for entering the username's and password's.
2. Enter the username and password for the first clip (making sure the CD is in the CD-ROM drive).
3. Prepare to watch the clip from your CD on the FarScape website.

The conversion from mpg to mov:

The 3 MPG clips on the Promotional CD are in a strange mpeg compression making it so they are hard to view in standard mpg players. Through out my entire study of the mpg clips I found about the only thing that can read them is the Xing MPEG Player located at http://www.xingtech.com. "You can also view them if you happen to have the original 3 page copies used at http://www.farscape.com on your hard drive (Which I have!)." Now on with the compression. Since most of you out there do not own a copy of the FarScape Promotional CD, I have taken it upon myself to convert the mpg clips into mov clips and have placed them here on our special FarScape clips page. The MPG clips are 352 by 240 but I have scaled them down in size to 160 by 120 for compression reasons.

F.A.Q.

1. Question: Why are there 5 .mov and you say there are 3 .mpg's?
Answer: The first and second clips both contain 2 different bonus footage scenes, so I figured I might as well split them into separate clips.
2. Question: Why are the clips so dark?
Answer: The original MPG clips are dark themselves and I didn't brighten them up. It kind of makes sense that they are dark because when you compress a clip that is darker the compression is lower, making the clip size smaller.
3. Question: Where might I find the original pages used to view the video clips on the Farscape Promo CD?
Answer: I Scorpwanna do have a copy and recently decided to release them to fans. You can find them here!
4. Question: I have the original pages and .hlq plugins used to view the clips but I cannot get it working on my home computer. How did you get them working?
Answer: The special Hyper-CD plugins which are the .hlq files (read more about them here) require the presence of a webserver (and of course the actual Hyper-CD). If you have a home webserver place the web pages and the .hlq files inside of the webserver's html documents location. Once they are there simply go to the location of the web pages on your webserver. If you have a website somewhere with some storage space, simply upload the pages and .hlq's then go to the location of the web pages. I have recently tested the Hyper-CD clip number 003 on my home computer using my (partially working) mIRC webserver script and it worked. However, clip numbers 001 and 004 didn't. :( Another thing you should know, the .hlq files will sometimes self-delete themselves if no connection to the webserver is found.
